SummerTeach
What is SummerTeach?
SummerTeach is an intensive 1 week chamber music workshop modeled on CMSSU’s monthly ChamberTeach program. SummerTeach will feature morning chamber music coachings and performances, a chamber orchestra experience, recitals, master classes, and concerts. There will also be some social activities to get to know your groups better and have a fun time.
Who is SummerTeach for?
SummerTeach is for any interested player of any age and of any level. We will give preference to pre-formed quartets and those with private teachers, though neither are mandatory. Players who are not part of pre-formed groups will be placed with quartets according to their ability. We will determine your ability either through your private teacher or an audition of sorts.
What is expected of me before SummerTeach?
You will receive your music and group assignments before June 1st, most likely in an email pdf. It is responsibility to arrive prepared for SummerTeach. This includes knowing all the notes of both your quartet music and your chamber orchestra music. Your quartet should rehearse twice in the month of June prior to attending SummerTeach. The success of your experience is directly related to your preparation. If you show up without the notes and rhythms learned and without time spent rehearsing with your group, you will waste valuable time that could be spent learning about thehigher things and collaborating with your friends to create artful music. Make sure to take your parts to your private lessons and come ready to learn!
